Annual Meeting (Revised Notice), Wednesday May 15

The Wallingford Community Council (WCC) will hold its Annual Membership Meeting and Election of Officers on Wednesday May 15, 2019, at 7:00 PM. In the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Center, 4659 Sunnyside Ave N.

Program

Guest Speakers:
Jeanne Kohl-Welles, King County Councilmember for District 4. (King County District 4 covers most of Wallingford from west of 1st Ave NE, the remainder of Northwest Seattle, Magnolia, Queen Anne, South Lake Union, “Uptown”, and part of Downtown.)
Abel Pacheco, Seattle City Councilmember for District 4. (Seattle City District 4 covers part of Fremont, most of Wallingford, and goes east to Lake Washington.)

Election of Officers

This year we will be electing the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and three At Large Board Members (these six positions are all one year terms). The Past President position will be held by Miranda Berner and Treasurer, a two year term, is Paul Willumson. Nominations will be accepted from the floor. The present list of nominees is:
President: Jenny Ring-Perez
Vice President: Glenn Singer
Treasurer: Paul Willumson
Secretary: Mark JoHahnson
At Large Positions:
1. Jamie Lynn Bird
2. Ted Hunter
3. Donn Cave

Reminder: To vote in the election, you must be a current member for 2019. Two years ago, we moved to a calendar year membership cycle. If you joined or renewed your membership before May 1, 2019, then you are eligible to vote.

Reminder: To vote in the election, you must be a current member for 2019. Two years ago, we moved to a calendar year membership cycle. If you joined or renewed your membership after November 2018, then your membership is valid for all of 2019. To be eligible to vote in the May election, you must renew or join no later than April 30, 2019.

  • Special Guest: Jesseca Brand, from the City of Seattle, explains the City’s Racial & Social Justice Equity Lens. What it is and how the city uses it.
  • Committee reports.
  • Announcements:
    • The next Monthly Meeting will be Wednesday March 6, 7 PM.
    • Public Hearing on the Mandatory Housing Affordability legislation. Thursday February 21, 5:30 PM at Seattle City Hall. Please plan to attend and voice your concerns.
    • This year’s Annual Meeting will be Wednesday May 15.
    • Time to renew your Wallingford Community Council (WCC) membership! In 2017, the WCC moved to a calendar year membership. You can join at any time throughout the year. Please renew or join now!
  • Good of the Order (anything people want to bring up).

Representative Nicole Macri, 43rd District

Hear her ideas for retaining & growing middle class housing.
We will also hear what she is doing to ensure that as our population grows, so does livability (i.e., schools, parks, green space, community centers, senior centers, play fields, transportation, etc..), as well as her ideas for slowing down economic segregation.
Followed by Q&A.

Save the Date:

The next Monthly Meeting is Wednesday, June 6th, 7pm.  In addition to an update on Stone Way, etc. by SDOT, we will be having a special general meeting the latter half of the time period to discuss potential by-law changes, outreach and inclusion.

Reminder: To vote in the election of Officers, you must be a current member for 2018. Last year, we moved to a calendar year membership cycle. This means that if you joined or renewed your membership after November 2017, then your membership is valid for all of 2018. To be eligible to vote at the Annual Meeting, you must renew or join for 2018 no later than today, April 24, 2018!
