Agenda:

Welcome / Call to Order.

A Navigation Team Representative from the City will address safety concerns about illegal encampments, garbage, and hazardous waste (needles, human feces). What the police can do. What residents can do.

Phil Reichel of Save N40th will present on why they oppose the Seattle Department of Transportation plan to remove parking on N/NE 40th Street in order to add bicycle lanes.

Committee reports.

Announcements:

  • The next Monthly Meeting will be Wednesday October 3, 2018, 7 PM.
  • City Councilmember Rob Johnson has released a new Tree Ordinance that replaces tree protections in favor of tree removal and mitigation. The Coalition for a Stronger Tree Ordinance is meeting Saturday September 1, 11:15 AM to 1:15 PM at the Green Lake Public Library. The Planning, Land Use and Zoning Committee is holding a Public Hearing on Wednesday September 5, 9:30 AM in City Council Chambers.
  • Volunteers needed to help construct gravel walkways at the Nickelsville Northlake Tiny House Village on Saturday September 8 (see below).
  • Wallingford Historic Homes Fair on Saturday October 6 from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Good Shepherd Center.

  • TreePAC: Advocacy for an effective tree ordinance. Meeting the City’s goal to increase the tree canopy to 30% includes protecting existing trees and Seattle’s urban forests.
  • Seattle Department of Transportation: Green Lake Area Paving & Safety Projects. Project briefing by Christa Dumpys on bicycle lane and parking changes for Stone Way N, Green Lake Way N, N 50th Street, and N 40th Street.

General Membership Meeting:

Join us for the Wallingford Community Council (WCC) Annual Membership Meeting and Election of Officers on Wednesday May 9, 2018, 7:00 PM in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Center, 4649 Sunnyside Avenue N. Everyone is welcome!

Members: Please come early to check in to vote.

Representative Nicole Macri, 43rd District

Hear her ideas for retaining & growing middle class housing.
We will also hear what she is doing to ensure that as our population grows, so does livability (i.e., schools, parks, green space, community centers, senior centers, play fields, transportation, etc..), as well as her ideas for slowing down economic segregation.
Followed by Q&A.

This year we will be electing the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and three At Large Board Members. Nominations will be accepted from the floor. The present list of nominees is:

Reminder: to vote in the election, one needs to be a current member for 2018. Last year, WCC moved to a calendar year membership cycle. If you joined or renewed your membership after November 2017, then your membership is valid for all of 2018. To be eligible to vote in the May election, you must have renewed or joined no later than April 24, 2018.

Save the Date:

The next Monthly Meeting is Wednesday, June 6th, 7pm.  In addition to an update on Stone Way, etc. by SDOT, we will be having a special general meeting the latter half of the time period to discuss potential by-law changes, outreach and inclusion.

Reminder: To vote in the election of Officers, you must be a current member for 2018. Last year, we moved to a calendar year membership cycle. This means that if you joined or renewed your membership after November 2017, then your membership is valid for all of 2018. To be eligible to vote at the Annual Meeting, you must renew or join for 2018 no later than today, April 24, 2018!

The Wallingford Community Council (WCC) will hold its Annual Membership Meeting and Election of Officers on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, 7:00 PM.  We will be electing officers at the meeting.  If you would like to be considered for a nomination for one of those positions, please send an email describing your interest and past level of involvement with the WCC and the neighborhood to lee@raaen.com no later than April 18.
